Weekend
On saturday after breakfast we went down town Batavia, library and couple of stores. One store was full of halloween stuff, spooky. It amazes me how much people spend money for halloween. In the neigborhood there are few yards full of spooky skeletons, tombstones and ghosts. I bought a little skeleton as a souvenier.
We had family lounch in a mexican restaurant, we should have those kind of meetings in Finland too at least my family (I don't know if everybody else is having those already). I ate tacos, quite different than I had before back home.
In the evening we went to Malta, there was a corn maze. After standing quite long in line we got our tickets to the maze. Very new experience for me... first part was easy but the second part was hounted. There were ugly and scary people with there chainsaws and scythes and there were not let you to go pass or they hounted you 😱. It was spooky, scary and still fun. I wonder could we do something like that in Finland 🤔 - although we have only few corn fields but could we use something else, maybe forest.
They have those mazes during the halloween time, maybe during four weekends. And hundreds of people take a part of those mazes, weird 😉.
By the way it snowed a little bit... It amazed people a lot...
On sunday we - or at least I woke up quite late, it was like 8. We ate carrot muffins and scrambled eggs with coffee, it was quite normal weekend breakfast they said. Lazy sunday, some laundry and watching tv - Kimi won his first F1-race in this season HURRAY!
In the afternoon we drove to the Kuipers farm. There were apples to pick up and pumkins to carry. And another thing that suprised, look at the picture below...
How they are willing to pay 11 dollars to go and pick up only few apples!!!!
There were very big store where you can buy different kind of procucts made of apples and of course pop corn 😉. We bought some apples and very tasty pure apple juice, they called it cider. And of course donuts, those were very good too.
On the way back home we stopped for a beer. Place was nice little bar, I think the name was Blackberry.
I like that we usually eat at home homemade food. Sunday dinner was super delicious, black beans and minced meat - little bit like chili con carne. With it some very fresh corn bread. And for dessert fresh apples with caramel. Soooooo yammy 😍
In the grocery I compared a little bit prices, 5 lb flour cost 1,69 (2,27 kg).
1 lb=0,45kg, 1$=0,87€
